The gist of what I’m trying to say here is that anyone claiming that Injustice 2, Mortal Kombat 11 and Marvel’s Avengers were flops based on Steam numbers would be out of their minds or ignorant of how the gaming industry works. At the moment, Injustice 2 has 221 players in-game, while Mortal Kombat 11 has 946 and Marvel’s Avengers has 815. Would make sense to claim Injustice 2 and Mortal Kombat 11 failures from a business standpoint? It would be laughable in my opinion. We do know how much Mortal Kombat 11 has sold up until last July tho (released back in April 23 2019), and that was north of 12 million copies, based on information revealed by Ed Boon on Twitter. We never had the exact number of sales of that game, but something people never mention is that it has never had more than 1,900 concurrent players on Steam. I don’t know a single person that has ever claimed that that game’s franchise is nothing short of a soaring success, not only critically acclaimed but also a successful game with its sales. Injustice 2 was released back in November 30 2017, almost four years ago. Steamdb is what is generally used to gauge Marvel’s Avengers concurrent players data, but it’s also easily available to any game on the Steam platform, including Injustice 2. Something that I’m not so sure those following Marvel’s Avengers is how console centric that game is, and how it has always been that way. It has the best graphics of that franchise and the stronger story, despite me preferring the first game roster over the newest entry, it has Nightwing after all.

But I want to raise attention to a narrative that has plagued this game’s online discourse since it’s release, which is how representative the Steam concurrent players data is to this game’s overall player base health.

Like many here, I’m curious and apprehensive about tomorrow’s Q4 roadmap.
